Roger and Stoo are both former members of the deeply influential American underground band Thin White Rope. Here’s a great profile of them from Graeme Thomson at the Guardian (2015).

But their work since then is just as compelling. Stoo Odom has kept his ear to the ground and kept making fresh sounds and working with all sort of interesting musicians ever since including but not limited to Acid Mothers Temple, The Monks and even The Boredoms. He’s also been a part of the fabric of sound exploration in New Orleans and beyond, playing with beloved touchstones like Rob Cambre and others, making both fresh and pure songs and dirty cosmic love songs like Raw Stinking Beauty and God’s Gonna Set the World on Fire from his 2020 album Indefensible which you can find on BandCamp.

Roger describes himself modestly as someone who “plays the guitar, both acoustic and electric … [and] the mandolin and he might even own a banjo.” Since the end of Thin White Rope he’s played with Acme Rocket Quartet  and currently plays with Mike Blanchard and the Californios , and the chillingly mysterious Cloud Seeder. As a soloist, he writes, he “performs on acoustic guitar, delivering a mix of bluegrass instrumentals, jazz standards, things in between, and things outside.”

Opener Alex Cook returns to YWC after a long hiatus and all sorts of projects including The Rakers and his weekly Sunday afternoon gig from 5-7 pm at Brakes Bar down the street at 5412 Government St.
