Anarchist Political Ecology (APE) Group
January 31st: “Against the Megamachine” in David Watson’s book of the same name, on pp. 117-146. A PDF of the text can be found here.
The Anarchist Political Ecology Group is co-sponsored by La Terre Institute for Community and Ecology and Yes We Cannibal. If you would like to participate, join the listerv at the APE Info Page. For questions, email firstname.lastname@example.org
We meet every Sunday at 11:30 am central time. Since we have had group members recently from four North American, two European, and one Asian time zone, we have tried to find a time that would facilitate everyone’s participation.
APE is rooted in Anarchist Political Ecology. While one does not need to be Anarchist nor Political, nor Ecological to join, these forms are the lens through which we engage these texts and our conversation
Working questions/thoughts/musings on our mission:
- What does it mean to be Anarchist, to be Political, to be Ecological.
- We desire relationships with humanity and earth alike that are egalitarian, free to develop without domination, and in symbiosis with place.
- We aim for liberation, but a liberation that requires equality – as there is no liberty without equality.
- Our aim is to develop a community based on affinity, sharing, personal and group development.
Along with readings and discussions, we also desire output that enriches the human experience. To that end, based on the discussions, we’ve discussed producing a short film over the next year – directed by all participants, as a document of our becoming.
We hope to see you soon. And if you can’t come or don’t want to for a given discussion, all are always welcome to return.
