Meat Meet 23: Renée Reed with Hal Lambert

Sunday August 8th 6-9 pm

Renée Reed (Lafayette, LA) with Hal Lambert (Baton Rouge)
Performance

Live and on Twitch. Note Meat Meet time shift to 6pm.

Yes We Cannibal is proud to present Renée Reed live and in-person to celebrate the release of her debut album.

Released in March by the esteemed Austin, Texas-based label Keeled Scales, her home-recorded, self-titled record has already received overwhelming praise from around the world, with glowing reviews from Pitchfork, Rolling Stone France, Uncut, Gold Flake Paint, and Gorilla vs Bear, just to name a few. Her singles have been in enthusiastic rotation by the likes of NPR, FIP/Radio France, the BBC, CBC, and KEXP.

Renée Reed grew up on the accordion-bending knee of her band-leading grandfather, in the middle of countless jam sessions at the one-stop Cajun shop owned by her musician parents, and surrounded by a litany of Cajun and Creole music legends, both backstage at the many festivals of Southwest Louisiana and on her family’s front porch. While Renée’s music is certainly informed by these deep roots, her dark, dreamlike folk has more in common with contemporaries like Cate Le Bon and Jessica Pratt. It’s also not unlike the intangible magic contained in Mazzy Star’s songs. And yet she has clearly created a sound world that is all her own.

Renée is excited to perform solo in Baton Rouge for the first time ever. As if that wasn’t excitement enough, the indomitable Hal Lambert will also be lending his presence and a performance to this celebratory evening.

Please join us for what will only be a most wonderful night of music and good times. Doors are at 6pm, with music will starting at 6:30pm. Entrance is donation-based. Renée will have limited copies of her album available to purchase on vinyl, CD, and cassette as well.
