I don't believe in culture ... I believe in encounters. -- Gilles Deleuze

Samantha Combs

August 14th - October 2nd 2021

Opening Reception: Saturday August 14th 6 pm

Itty Bitty, Nitty Gritty

This work explores the relationship of self to place and specifically, that of an individual’s internal and emotional life to the shower.

Samantha Combs is fascinated with what peoples’ thoughts and emotions may look like as they are metaphorically washed off their bodies and collected in their shower’s drain pipes. Each work functions as an excavated cross-section of that imagined subterranean landscape of residual soap and self-help book paper. They represent the weight of any given individual’s internal life through psychological time.
